Sanwala Association Mumbai was founded in 1988 by Late Mohammad Jaffar bhai Shikalgar (Do Tank), Ajij Bhai Shikalgar (vita), Rasul Abbas shikalgar (Bhalavni), Liyakat Bhai Shikalgar (Lalbaugh), Amir Hamza vazuddin shikalgar (vita), Babalal Bhai Shikalgar (Budd), Nazir bhai Shikalgar, Alaudin Shikalgar (Andheri), Shamshuddin Shikalgar (Bandra), Ibrahim Bhai Shikalgar (Gursale), Nizam Ibrahim Shikalgar (Bhalavni).

In the past Shikalgar's were recognized as Dharwale, Saanwale because of their occupation. Many had registered this name on their Ration Cards too.

They felt the importance of this and Established Sanwala Association Mumbai. Hence the businessmen displayed the sign board outside their Shops. This created an awareness amongst them.
